Vintage Mail Order
I’m trying to find some vintage children’s books from the 70’s. ?
I remember they were mail order, but not from school. And it was part of a club, meaning, you got a new one in the mail every month or so. Does anyone remember any book clubs of the 70’s (it would be late 70’s)
Hmm… Troll and Scholastic were around then, though I don’t know that they published their own books at the time. I wish I could give you a more specific response (I loved these sorts of questions when I was a children’s librarian!), but I do have two suggestions:
1. Check with a local public librarian, describing the books as best you can (illustrations, book covers, characters, storylines, whatever you remember). He/she might need several days or weeks to investigate but most are part of online listservs in which librarians help one another to answer questions like yours.
2. Search for Scholastic, Troll, Little Golden Books, etc. at eBay to see if anything looks familiar. I recommend adding “vintage” to your search terms so you weed out the recently published items.
