How much should I charge for hand embroidered items?

One of my hobbies is embroidery and I do it by hand. Most of my work is given as gifts and I embroider items such as pillow cases, sheets, guest towels, homemade baby blankets, sunbonnets and aprons. My latest project was a Christmas gift which was a set of four aprons with each season depicted. The person I gave these to has been showing them around and now I’m getting loads of offers from people who would like to buy some of my stuff. The thing is, I’m not sure how much I should charge! Has anyone got a clue?

These are labours of love ~ there is no doubt about that.

You might begin by looking on line to see what is being asked for such products by other people. The challenges are around product coming from Asia where people are embroidering all day long for next to nothing.

One might consider just asking the people asking you to do the work what they would be willing to pay for the work as well. That will help you understand if this is something you wish to pursue.
