Sewing Zippers In Cushions
On a sewing machine can you use a normal foot for a zipper?
I have to have a zipper on a cushion done in 3 days and i went out and bought a zipper foot but i cant work out how to put a bit of it on, I have a Singer sewing machine very old one. I was hoping I could just use a normal foot on it as I don’t have the time to go out and buy a new one, all answers are appreciated. 
Can be done, but it’s more difficult. Easier with one of the old straight stitchers because of the narrow foot.

Two suggestions:
1) Go to http://www.singerco.com/accessories/manuals.html and get a copy of the instruction manual for the machine (many of the older models are free); there will be a section on changing presser feet.
2) There are some really nice tutorials on zipper insertion methods at http://www.fashion-incubator.com/tutorials/ — try them. These will require that you make some changes to your sewing pattern before you cut it out, but they’re easy. And the methods in the tutorial will give you very nice results.
