Free hand- embroidery stitching on the sewing machine?
I was wondering if anyone could help, today at college we where introduced to free hand stitching/embrodery (with the particular footer). I want to buy a sewing machine that comes with the footer, and that has the setting on the sewing machine,but the argos catalogue doesnt give any details on what you can do on the machines.
Argos is also my only choise of shop, I live in a terrible place for art or sewing supplies!

Thankyou! I have found a machine, that had a ‘free hand emroidery’ setting! Its £160, but I recently got given a bursary from the University that franchises our course!

You will need a darning foot for free motion stitching/embroidery to keep the fabric from pulling up with the motion of the needle – http://www.clotilde.com/list.html?criteria=darning+foot&x=22&y=11
Not all embroidery hoops will fit under the presser foot of a sewing machine.
Check the manual for your machine’s accessories and functions. Some machines have a cover plate that has to be placed over the feed dogs(there will be tiny holes in the throat plate for the cover to snap into place) and other machines have a lever for lowering the feed dogs.
In a bind, you can set the stitch lenght to zero and securely tape an index card (with a hole punched in the center for the needle to go through) over the feed dogs.

Make sure the presser foot is down when doing the free-motion stitching.
