Sewing Piping Pillows

Sewing 101 (Machine parts)?
I am a novice in sewing. Just recently I made a pillow for my daughter and I had a hard time making the piping for the edge of the pillow. Is there a special presser foot for making piping? I plan on making another pillow and want to do piping again. Are they all pretty standard? I have a machine that is a no-name brand. I’m not sure if that makes a difference or not.
They do sell generic after-market sewing machine feet especially for piping/cording that have a tunnel on the bottom for the cord to pass through. If you can select the position of your machine needle (can you set it to sew left or right of center?), you might be able to use such a foot to advantage. If not, most people just use the zipper foot. If you don’t have a zipper foot, you can buy generic aftermarket ones at most fabric stores.
