Sewing Patterns Vintage Dress Patterns
Would you not recommend sewing a dress for a beginner?
I have been wanting to sew a dress from a pattern for a very long time. Problem is, I’ve only mended with my sewing machine and I have very low experience.
My taste is pretty specific, I want to sew a 1950’s style full skirt dress from a vintage pattern… but even though I’ve had that in mind for some time, I’ve always been too intimidated to go through with it.
What should I look out for/know before trying to sew such a dress?

Drip, it’s easy to tell someone to “take a class” – but please keep in mind that not everone has the means or else they probably would have already done so.

If you’ve never sewn a thing from a pattern, then I would not recommend jumping right into a dress, unless you have someone to help you.
Get your feet wet first with something simple. A bag, a vest, an elastic waist skirt.
If you want to jump right in, then go for it. But make a practice dress with some cheap fabric, muslin is good, because then you can mark it up and alter your pattern.
Just read everything first, so you understand everything.
