Sewing And Embroidery Machine Reviews
Looking for a great sewing machine with a great price!?
My mom and i want to get into sewing, but first we need a machine. haha. I am looking for a good name brand sewing machine, but also one that doesn’t cost alot. Any reviews would be great! Also does anyone know of any good embroidery machines as well? Thanks so much!
Here’s my standard sewing machine advice: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100120140429AApYwiY
Most of the folks I know who do much computerized machine embroidery have wound up with two machines: one to embroider on, often an embroidery only machine, and one for sewing while the embroidery machine is chugging away, often sewing-only. The cost for the two machines is about equal to the combination machines they were looking at.
Because you’re both brand new beginners, I’d love to see you take a beginning sewing somewhere that you can use classroom machines. This will teach you enough about sewing that I think you can make a better choice for purchase. If that won’t work for you, then please, please go to a real sewing machine dealer’s store (or several, better yet!), and explain that you are raw beginners and ask to have some machines demonstrated for you. Then ask to try some of the basic machine functions, like winding a bobbin, threading a machine, sewing straight seams and making buttonholes. Assuming you’re thinking of making garments, ask for a demonstration of making a buttonhole on a 1 step buttonholer and a 4 step buttonholer.
