Sewing Accessories Kit
what is a perfect Christmas gift for a mother that loves to sew?
My mom likes to sew in her spare time. what are some accessories that you think she’d love to use but doesn’t cost to much for me to buy? I’m not and “sewer expert” so i really don’t know what they need and use. Perhaps a kit? but maybe what kind of kit? Please tell me a perfect sewing gift and where i can buy it.

she has a sewing machine and the scissors and needles and strings and stuff. haha. i don’t really know that’s why i need your help guys she has all simple stuff and i think she deserves a more professional tool kit so her work will be smoother and better. :]
That’s ok, nobody else knows where sewing stuff belongs, either.
What does she have? Does she have a really good pair of scissors? (I like Kai, and you should get as long a blade as possible for cutting out — it increases the smoothness of the cut.) Does she do machine embroidery? Curved blades are handy for that… you can reach over the hoop to cut threads. http://www.kaiscissors.com If she cuts with a rotary cutter and mat, new blades that fit her cutter are always useful. Measure across the width of the blade, in mm, and head for the fabric store.
What does she read? Might she like a subscription to Sew News (pretty elementary) or Threads (more advanced) or Belle Armoire (wearable art) or Australian Stitches (which has recently changed its name to Sewing with Stitches Australia) or Burda or Ottobre Woman (which include patterns) or….
if you’ve got a big Joann fabrics, there’s a magazine counter that you can take a look at some of them (if you tell me what sort of stuff she sews, I can help you sort it out some more).
Threads magazine also does some good books and videos: http://store.taunton.com/onlinestore/catalog/fiberarts — again, if I knew a bit more about the sort of things she sews, I could make some more focused suggestions. And there are plenty of other good books and videos on various facets of sewing around. Would she use a Smartflix gift certificate? They have a number of sewing videos in their collection.
How about supplies? A gift certificate to a place like Atlanta Thread or Newark Dressmaker Supply is nice, particularly if you don’t have good places to buy stuff like threads, needles, pins, etc.
