No Sewing Hems
Just bought a sewing machine! Help!?
I just bought online a sewing machine and I'm thinking what accessories I should buy. I decided that I want to do my own sewing instead of going to the tailor. I'll probably make a jean much hemming etc etc etc. What kind of discussions that I need? I have no idea what I needed. Suggestions?
Contact some your local retailers sewing machine (Bernina, Pfaff, Brother) and whether they have a sewing machine to class orientation. You can see the machine you have purchased and they will guide you through the basics (the seams, zigzag, buttonhole, bobbin winding, etc.). Read your instruction booklet with care. Buy only the needles recommended by the manufacturer. You mentioned sewing denim – there are gadgets like "Hump Jumper" to help you sewing on the sewing hump. Basically it is a small plastic ruler that you place under the back of the presser foot while stitching more. Be careful not to buy too much yarn for sale – it may be old and brittle.
