Will this sewing machine work well?

Can anyone tell me if a 1949 White Domestic 153MG sewing machine would work well for me or not? I am considering buying one as my first sewing machine from a lady who restores them… according to her it would even out last my family! Does anyone have something similar and if so, how well does it work for you? I am wanting it for sewing kids clothes, dresses, curtains, table runners, etc etc. Will this old of a machine work for me? I am new to sewing machines but I really want one but I don’t want to spend the money if it isn’t going to do what I need. It looks pretty cool and antique looking very well taken care of. Any help would be great!

You need something more modern. A machine that does a zig-zag stitch and makes buttonholes.
