Cosplay Investment – New Sewing Machine Help?
So I’m a cosplayer. I’m not of fan of buying premade costume because in my opinion they look tacky and artificial. I make ALL of my costumes, which means a lot of sewing.
My sewing machine has been broken for quite some time. Recently, I was presented with a rather large project on short notice, and I was forced to hand sew my own coat from a hand-made pattern (It actually turned out quite nicely). Needless say, I don’t want to be stuck in that situation again.
However, I’m a little stumped as to what kind of sewing machine i should get. I’m not looking for fancy, just a simple machine that is durable. It’ll be used quite frequently, and I’d like it to last for good number of years.
So, any suggestions?
Do not get a new brothers or singer sewing machine. go to a sewing machine dealer and see what used models they have in a very good brand. Like Viking, Pfaff or Bernina. My sisters Pfaff is 20 years old and my Viking is 15 and sews like a charm. Not to mention the dealer will give you free lessons on how to use your machine and be there for support in the future.
