Fusible Sewing Tape

Fusible web / tape or fabric glue?
As my children get older, I’m starting to do craft projects with them. One project I’m considering involves joining strips of fabric elastic ribbon together. I don’t want to sew, so I’m considering either
1) ironing on fusible web tape; or
2) fabric glue.
Which is easiest? I need a strong join, so are they both strong, and which is strongest?
Thanks!
The glue in either will likely let go as the elastic ribbon is stretched, but fusible webbing would be less rigid than dried glue. Glue is easier with kids- mess, but no burns from the iron. Webbing is easier overall, as there’s no real cleanup and it just lays out nicely, no soaking through and leaving crunchy glue spots.
