Quilt sewing question?

I’m reletively new at quilting and have selftaught myself to quilt. I currently do small car quilts and crib quilts, and diaper pads. I’m having an issue with the blankets when it come to the quilting bit. I sew the edges of top, bottom and lining together and flip the blanket around. Close the opening. Then I pin the quilt. Now I’ve been doing machine quilting using the foot and my machine is a basic sewing machine. The problem I’m encourntering is when I quilt the top and bottom fabric aren’t being fed evenly for some reason and I end up having some pinched sew spots on the quilts some are quite noticable too. And this is happenind even with the pins. What should I do to keep top and bottom together all the way through the quilting? Should I use a special foot and not the bottom feeding teeth?

Sounds like you prefer the pillowcase method instead of the layering and binding method.

Three options:

(1) Layer the quilt backing and top face to face. Use temp spray adhesive for quilting and sewing on the wrong side of the top and the batting/wadding. Hand hand press the batting in place, then turn.

Sulky brand will dissipate, so the quilting should be done soon after apposed to a few days later.

(3) Use a walking foot/even feed foot for the straight stitches (such as quilting in a ditch). This foot feeds from the top in conjunction with the feed dogs on the bottom and will eliminate the shifting.

There are generic brands that will fit your machine as long as it has a standard shank for the presser foot to attach. Some come with a screw to fasten to the presser foot shank and others require you use the screw that holds the presser foot or presser foot adapter (for snap on presser feet) to attach the walking foot.
